Ben Sellers Delivers Inspiring Inclusion Workshop
At the start of the Spring Term, we were delighted to welcome Ben Sellers (teacher, trainer and writer) to Cornwall. He delivered a workshop for instrumental teachers, and his passion for improving access to high-quality creative opportunities for disabled young people and those with additional learning needs, was clearly communicated. Ben provided theoretical approaches and practical solutions to inclusion for teaching whole classes, small groups and individuals.
The great thing about this type of training is sharing ideas and then reflecting on our own teaching! I actually reflected on myself generally as well and how certain activities made me feel - I realised how anxious I feel with certain activities and how this must be the same for a lot of young people. It really was a fabulous day and I'm about to head off to try some of the things I took away from the session with a composition class.

There was the opportunity to discuss specific needs and conditions, such as neurodiversity, dyslexia and sensory impairments. Everyone took part in the practical examples of activities and how technology can support inclusion.
The ASONE training day with Ben Sellers was great - it was practical, informative, and fun! It was really useful to be able to share the experiences and challenges of inclusive practice with freelancers, school teachers, and CMST teachers.
