Looking back on 2025, we’re proud of a year filled with inspiring music-making across Cornwall. Songfest brought together over 1,000 KS2 children from 85 primary schools and nearly 200 secondary students in 42 acts and ensembles, performing across 10 concerts spanning 70 miles and welcoming 2,400 audience members along the way.

The Music for Youth Regional Festival saw over 20 groups and ensembles take to the stage, celebrating progression, confidence and the joy of live performance in a supportive setting.

We launched our first Composition Expo, a brand-new event that showcased original music written by students from Cornish schools, brought to life through powerful performances by young dancers from Propeller to create a thrilling fusion of sound and movement.

Hubbub welcomed over 200 pupils for a high-energy day of workshops, from jazz improvisation and beatboxing to samba, strings and recycled percussion. Each session explored rhythm and structure in creative, collaborative ways.

We began the academic year with Raise the Roof! featuring The Sixteen, with over 100 students from six secondary schools taking part in expert-led vocal workshops, supported by a quartet of Genesis Sixteen alumni - a brilliant start to the year’s singing programme.

More than 200 students joined us at Newquay Tretherras for BSO Set Works Live!, enjoying a morning Come and Play session with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra musicians, followed by a specially curated KS4 concert bringing set works to life.

At our Autumn Conference, we welcomed music educators, leaders and partners from across Cornwall for a day of connection and reflection, opened by an inspiring keynote from Samantha Stimpson, Founder and CEO of SLS 360 and focusing on equity, diversity and inclusion.

We rounded off the year with Lowender Nadelik at Truro Cathedral, hosted alongside MusicAbility, featuring festive performances from a wide range of Cornwall’s young ensembles and schools. It was a magical evening and a perfect way to close the year.

Thank you for being part of such a special 2025. We look forward to sharing more music with you in the new year.

Dyw genes - see you soon!
