A Choir in Every School
Published on February 24, 2026
Music Teachers Association are launching their A Choir in Every School campaign.
Their vision is simple, yet ambitious - to ensure that every young person in the UK has access to a choir in their school, in whatever form works for that setting.
Alongside this, they want to support teachers and adults who want to lead singing, but may be lacking confidence, resources or guidance to do so. The evidence is clear: in many schools, little or no singing is taking place. The MTA knows what a hugely positive impact singing has on young people’s wellbeing, confidence, sense of belonging and musical development.
The campaign will focus on the following three areas:
- Start - where there isn’t a choir, let’s start one. Identify a choir leader and give them the tools and confidence to begin.
- Support - choirs need resources, leaders need encouragement and guidance, and schools need to actively support singing as part of their culture.
- Sustain - where choirs already exist, help them to grow, diversify, and thrive through progression, repertoire, and meaningful opportunities.
