In August 2024, the Keg & Pasty Stage at Boardmasters came alive with the energy and talent of Cornwall’s emerging young musicians. Thanks to a continued partnership between ASONE Hub and Livewire Youth Music, the festival has become an exciting platform for young performers to take to the stage and experience what it’s like to play at one of the UK’s most iconic music events.

Last summer’s incredible lineup included: Jake Harrison, Lizzie Hill, Kitty Crocker, Third Party, The Newqs, Spiral, Michael & Maddie, Band of Fiasco, No-one Knows, and M00p. Each act brought their unique sound and spirit, making the 2024 showcase another unforgettable milestone for youth music in Cornwall.

Live Experience Video & Free Lesson Plan for Secondary Schools

Alongside the call for applications, ASONE Hub is proud to release a new Live Event Experience Video, directed by award-winning filmmaker Andrew Quigley. This short film captures the raw, emotional, and exciting journey of young artists preparing for their debut at Boardmasters; from arrival and soundcheck to the moment they step on stage.

“It’s not just about the music—it’s about the journey, the emotions, and the connection between artist and audience.”
Andrew Quigley, Director

The film offers an authentic look behind the scenes, showcasing the passion, preparation, and teamwork involved in festival performance. It’s an inspiring resource for any young creative, and a fantastic educational tool.

To accompany the video, ASONE has also produced a curriculum-aligned lesson plan for secondary school teachers. It’s designed to help students explore creative careers, performance preparation, and the wider music industry through real-life experiences.

“The students dealt with a fast-paced environment and unpredictable weather with real professionalism. I’m so proud of how they handled themselves.”
Louise Kemp, Event Production Lead, ASONE Hub

This ongoing collaboration between ASONE Hub, Livewire Youth Music, and Boardmasters continues to open doors for Cornwall’s next generation of musicians whether you're a student looking to perform or a teacher looking for inspiring materials.
