ASONE HOLDS HUBBUB SCHOOLS’ FESTIVAL AT HEARTLANDS CORNWALL
ASONE Perform CIC, who now manage the former Cornwall Music Education Hub, held a successful schools’ music festival, Hubbub, at Heartlands, Cornwall across Thursday 16th and Friday 17th June 2022.
Over 500 Key Stage 2 children from 16 schools right across Cornwall travelled to Heartlands Cornwall over two days to participate in a series of free, fun and educational musical workshop sessions. The pupils were thrilled to step back in time to discover the chords and dance moves of the Tudor period, unleash their inner creative via song writing sessions, and learn what it takes to be part of a Gamelan orchestra. The children were also delighted to have the opportunity to go on a musical voyage around the world to discover the rhythms of Brazilian Samba, Djembe drumming and Japanese Taiko.
Three large marquees were erected across the site’s gardens for classes with other sessions being held indoors in Chy Lowen, Chi Bobel Hall and the Red River Cafe Conservatory. It was an intensive event with the classes running from 9.30am to 2.30pm across both days.
Cindy Dalgleish, Founding Director of ASONE Perform CIC said, “This event is important on the ASONE Hub programme. It brings school children together so they can share the experience of playing instruments in a festival-type setting. This annual event creates a unique opportunity to showcase the quality of teaching and learning and it raises aspiration in younger children to progress in music education.”

This vital work supports and promotes access to high quality music education and progression opportunities for all children and young people in Cornwall.
