ASONE Hub Autumn Conference 2022

Published on November 22, 2022

The annual Hub Autumn Conference took place at the beautiful setting of Alverton Manor on Tuesday 15 November.  Music teachers from around the county gathered at the start of the day to hear the keynote speaker, Dr Alison Daubney, talk about the new National Plan for Music Education.  Ally spoke about the strategic functions of Hubs and the three overarching goals of the NPME.  The “takeaway” of the talk was that now is the time to start creating or updating your school Music plan ready for September 2023.

Following the keynote presentation, there were four sessions that included:

- New National Plan for Music Education and what it means for Primary and Secondary schools and practical activities

- Trauma Informed approaches to engaging in Music

- Music for Film

- Exploring vocal repertoire

- Inclusive approaches to teaching music

- Mindful music-making

- BTEC Music

- Inclusive ensembles

- Teaching Music musically

- Music Technology in live performances

It was fantastic to see teachers discussing their thoughts and plans for delivering music in their schools, not only face-to-face, but also using the Forum area on the ASONE Community Hub.  Let’s keep the conversations going and post your thoughts on our Forum.
