ASONE Hub Vocal Workshop With Cornwall Music Festival
This year the Cornwall Music Festival has partnered with the ASONE Hub as part of the Vocal Strategy programme, to unite the hugely popular Songfest 2023 with Cornwall’s historically successful music festival.
The new collaborative event, SING IN, led by renowned choral leader Peter Hunt, aims to enhance the Songfest offer further with CPD for music coordinators and choir leaders, an exciting vocal workshop and performance for pupils, plus the opportunity to experience the festival in a friendly non-competitive environment. We have included SING IN as part of the Cornish Singing Schools award. Schools not taking part in Songfest 2023 or the CSS award may of course also take sign up to participate. The workshop takes place on Tuesday 14 March, 10am to 1pm, at Truro Methodist Church.
Peter Hunt may be a familiar name with some of you who have his highly acclaimed Voiceworks song books, that have become a core resource for schools and choir leaders. SING IN will include new songs introduced on the day by Peter, and ‘All that glitters’, a Songfest 2023 song. The workshop will culminate with a short lunchtime concert in which all songs sung as part of the workshop will be performed.
An additional aspect of SING IN is a chance to create a video showcasing one of your favourite Songfest 2023 songs, performed by your Songfest singers and submit it for Peter to review. All videos can either be made after Angela or Patrick’s visit to schools if easier, or during your Songfest rehearsals. The deadline to send in your Songfest video is Monday 6th March 2023. Please email your video to David Hendry, CMF Chairman: [email protected].
This great non-competitive element of the festival will enable schools who are curious to enter a competitive choral class but don’t yet feel ready, but nevertheless are happy for positive and constructive feedback. A selection of the video submissions will be shown during the festival week and so it’s important the media consents of all singers taking part are known.
There is a fee of £20 to participate in Sing In payable to the Cornwall Music Festival.
