Have Your Say: Take the ISM’s 2025 music education survey
Share your views on the current state of music education in England and what needs to be done to support it in future
The Independent Society of Musicians (ISM) has launched its Music Education Survey 2025 and they’re calling on all school-based music educators in England to take part.
This national survey offers teachers, tutors and leaders the chance to share their experiences and shape the future of music education. Insights gathered will directly support the ISM’s influential research and ongoing advocacy on behalf of the music education sector.
Open to all educators working in school settings, regardless of ISM membership, the survey explores key issues including:
- The current landscape of classroom and extra-curricular music
- Provision and funding for music in schools
- The impact of the EBacc and Progress 8
- Workforce challenges and more
As the UK’s professional body for musicians and a leading voice for music education, the ISM continues to champion fair access, high-quality provision, and the rights of those working in music. Their independence as a not-for-profit organisation ensures they are free to campaign on the issues that matter most to musicians and educators.
All responses will remain strictly confidential and anonymous.
We encourage all music educators within our network to share their insight and pass the survey on to colleagues across England.
