ASONE Hub Music Lesson Subsidies & Minority Instrument Bursary Applications for 2023/4

Dear ASONE Hub Community,

The registration and application windows for Music Lesson Subsidies and Minority Instrument Bursaries are still open! This is an exciting opportunity for aspiring musicians in Cornwall to access quality music education and explore their musical talents.

Music Lesson Subsidies

Lesson Subsidies are designed to make music education more accessible to students in Local Authority or former Local Authority schools in Cornwall. If you are a peripatetic instrumental or vocal teacher delivering lessons in these schools, your students may be eligible for subsidised lessons. Students that are home-educated are encouraged to apply, provided they meet the eligibility criteria:

  • If you are a peripatetic teacher, you must register with ASONE Hub as a Registered Provider.
  • The bursaries are applicable for the entire academic year.
  • Lessons should be delivered by an ASONE Hub Registered Provider.

You can claim back the subsidy payments at the end of each term and the insturctiosn and forms to do so are here

Minority Instrument Bursaries

Instrument Bursaries are designed to support students in their pursuit of playing less common musical instruments. These bursaries aim to foster diversity in music education and encourage the exploration of unique instruments.

How to Apply for Minority Instrument Bursaries:

  • Complete the Minority Instrument Bursary Application form by September 18th, 2023.
  • There are two different levels of bursaries available, depending on the instrument being learned.
  • The subsidy applies to specific instruments, and lessons must be conducted by by an ASONE Hub Registered Provider.

Important Information:

  • If the number of applications exceeds the number of available bursaries, we mwill prioritise schools with only one pupil learning a particular instrument.
  • Students who already receive an ASONE Hub MI Bursary are encouraged to apply.
  • Instrumental teachers will be asked to submit attendance records each term, and the bursary may be withdrawn in cases of poor lesson attendance.

Minority Instruments

  • Tier 1 - Bassoon, Double Bass, French Horn, Tuba, Orchestral Tuned Percussion, Harp - Subsidy per lesson - £8.00
  • Tier 2 - Cello, Euphonium, Oboe, Viola, Trombone - Subsidy per lesson - £5.00

None of this would be possible without the dedicated teachers, schools, volunteers, and partners and their continuous support that enriches the musical education of Cornwall's youth.
