The Beat Academy: A Free Artist Development Programme Empowering Young Musicians Across Cornwall
The Beat Academy is a free artist development programme created to give young musicians the tools, support, mentoring and industry insights they need to turn their creativity into a professional pathway.
Open to emerging artists aged 17–26, The Beat Academy provides mentorship, studio time, industry workshops, live performance opportunities, and collaboration spaces. The programme is headquartered primarily in Bodmin and soon to be Falmouth, with more satellite pods being developed in surrounding areas to ensure accessibility across the region.
“Cornwall is full of raw, unfiltered talent,” says Florence (one of the lead facilitators), “but there’s often a lack of access to industry-standard resources. The Beat Academy is here to change that, at zero cost to the artists at hand.”
Participants will benefit from:
- Studio Access: Professional recording sessions and production training.
- Live Showcases: Opportunities to perform at curated gigs and community events.
- Industry Workshops: Sessions on music marketing, publishing, social media, and mental wellbeing.
- Mentorship: One-on-one support from established artists, producers, and managers.
Beyond technical skill, The Beat Academy is focused on building a creative community, a space where young artists can find their voice, express their identity, and develop career confidence.

- Build portfolios
- Learn about monetisation through streaming and sync licensing
- Connect with promoters, radio stations, and booking agents
- Explore pathways into music business roles such as sound engineering, management, and A&R.
