Free Field Recording Workshop for 15+ Girls, Women and Gender Diverse People

Published on July 30, 2025

Saturday 23rd August 2025 | 2:00–5:30pm | Kimberley Park Lodge Recording Studios, Falmouth

Join the F-List for an inspiring afternoon of field recording with renowned composer and music tech educator Isobel Anderson. Taking place at the stunning new studios in the recently converted Lodge building in Kimberley Park, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore the creative potential of environmental sound.

This workshop is open to older girls (15 and over), women and gender diverse people of all experience levels – no prior knowledge is needed. Some recording equipment will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring a smartphone and headphones if they have them.

Participants will gain practical insights into different recording gear and techniques before heading out into the park to experience embodied listening and capture sounds in the field. The session will conclude with a group playback and discussion, where Isobel will share ideas for how such recordings can be developed and used in creative work.

The workshop is free because it is funded by Falmouth Town Council’s Re-Source Project—an initiative that has transformed the old park keeper’s lodge in Kimberley Park, Falmouth into a digital hub for creativity, connection, and community, and a new home for local radio station Source FM. The aim of the Re-Source Project is to provide opportunities for people of all ages to develop skills in music, media, and digital arts, while strengthening community ties across Falmouth and the local area.

Vick Bain, Founder of The F-List, says: “I’m thrilled to be hosting a women in music event in my hometown of Falmouth, and there’s no one better to lead it than Isobel Anderson. She’s an incredible role model who empowers women and girls around the world to develop vital music tech skills. I’m also delighted that this project is being supported by Falmouth Council, allowing us to make use of the fantastic new Re-Source building – a space I hope will become a long-term asset for the Falmouth community.”

This event is part of a wider commitment by The F-List for Music to support underrepresented artists and develop inclusive opportunities in music technology.
