Start with Singing: Supporting Teachers to Embed Music in their Primary School | 4th November | 3:30pm - 5pm | Online (Zoom) | Free to Music Mark Members

Join Music Mark for their first Pimary School Music Teaching series session, this time with representatives from Oak/Bristol Beacon and Sing Up.

Music Mark's Primary School Music Teaching series runs as a twilight once a term, with a wide range of speakers. One of the pledges in the newly launched Music Mark of Recognition for schools, is…;

Advocate for the importance of music education in the curriculum and creative life of our school. This session will support Primary Schools; and any settings delivering Primary phase content; to fulfil this pledge.

In this session, Bristol Beacon, working with / on behalf of OAK national, and Sing Up will each host inspirational 30-minute presentations sharing their expertise, followed by a 30 minute session.

Bristol Beacon:

Hear about the pedagogy behind the Oak curriculum for Primary music, setting the scene of why we sing and how we sing: what is the ‘golden thread’ going through curriculum, singing assemblies and singing clubs or choirs? We will explore the common language and vocabulary in music teaching before putting this vocabulary into practice in session 2.

Sing Up:

Sing Up will give insight into the multiple benefits when we sing. Using some Sing Up resources that will be made freely available to you we will help to build your confidence to sing, and teach singing, supporting you to embed singing as a regular activity in your class. Rounding off with opportunity to ask specific questions about how to implement these ideas into your context.

There will be a short break between presentations and at the end of the session there will be an audience Q&A.
