School of Rock with Young Generation
ASONE Hub is delighted to support Young Generation with their next show, School of Rock - Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Book by Julian Fellowes, Lyrics by Glenn Slater. Young Generation are the first amateur theatre company in Cornwall to bring the West End version of this show to the stage! YG is an award-winning theatre company based in Falmouth, for young people aged 10 – 20, and has recently celebrated its 40th anniversary. Previous shows include: The Addams Family (2022); Sister Act (2019); Footloose (2018); Hairspray (2017); and Spamalot (2016).
School of Rock, based on the hit movie, follows Dewey Finn, a failed wannabe rockstar who decides to earn a bit of extra cash by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There, he turns a class of straight-A students into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. But can he get them to the Battle of the Bands without their parents the school's headmistress finding out? You can expect face-melting guitar riffs, mega vocals, rocking bass-lines and unbelievable drum solos!
The cast will be broken down into four groups:
- Students (Musicians)
- Students (Non-Musicians)
- Adults (Musicians)*
- Adults (Non-Musicians)
*ASONE Hub will be providing mentoring and support for the cast with instrument-playing roles.
We are looking for young people who can sing, act, and play the guitar, keys, bass, or drums to a competent level. We could have a cast pretending to play an instrument on stage, but we know that there are students out there who can play LIVE! At the same time though, we are also looking for young people with a love of musical theatre and performing on stage.
