Inspiring the Next Generation of Musicians: ASONE Hub's Programme of Activity for 2025–26

ASONE Hub begins the 2025-26 academic year with an updated and refined offer for schools, learners and educators across Cornwall. As Lead Organisation for the Cornwall Music Hub, ASONE Hub is responsible for delivering the Department for Education’s National Plan for Music Education (NPME) locally. This year’s programme reflects both national ambition and Cornwall’s unique educational and cultural landscape.

“This year’s programme reflects everything we’ve learned from schools, learners, partners and communities over the past three years. We’ve strengthened progression routes, simplified key projects and introduced new creative pathways that reflect the needs and ambitions of Cornwall’s young people.Ryan Jones, Board Rep, ASONE Perform CIC

“Moving forward, our focus is on inclusion, inspiration and impact. We’re working collaboratively with Hub partners to ensure every young person can explore their potential, build a love and appreciation for music and benefit from its powers to connect, learn and develop. We’re excited to see how this refreshed offer supports music education to thrive across Cornwall.” Millie Young, Head of Programme, ASONE Hub

New and Redefined School Projects for 2025–26

Building on consistent feedback and analysis, ASONE Hub has refreshed key school projects and introduced new strands to provide clarity and broaden access, particularly for schools welcoming new music educators.

Two new School Projects have been added for the upcoming academic year.

  • Cornish Folk Music (KS2): hands-on traditional music-making in the classroom
  • DJ and Live Production Skills (KS3): a contemporary introduction to digital and live performance tools

In addition, several projects have been renamed for clarity:

  • Sing and Play (EYFS & KS1): formerly KS1 Inspiration, introducing young learners to singing and instruments
  • Classroom Instrumental Teaching (KS2): previously KS2 First Access, continuing the whole-class instrumental pathway
  • Music Technology (KS2 & KS3): combining the Gateway and Pathway strands into a clear progression offer

Having listened closely to schools and music educators, these changes aim to bridge the gap and align with classroom practice, especially for new and non-specialist teachers.

“The School Project programme is invaluable in enriching the music curriculum and opportunities available to our children” shared one Cornish primary school.

“Flightpath is about fairness. We want every young person with the passion to learn to be able to do so - regardless of postcode or income.” Cindy Dalgleish, Managing Director, ASONE Perform.
